walking

Conchra House is an ideal place for walking the wide range of Munros, Corbetts or Grahams in the countryside around Lochalsh, Dornie, Kintail and Keppoch. There is also a wide range of less strenuous walks in the locality, which also provide extensive views of the local countryside.

In the Kintail area, there are 24 Munros including Beinn Fhada, the renowned Five Sisters, as well as the Glen Shiel ridge which encompasses 7 Munros, and which leads on to the fabulous Saddle.

In addition, there are 12 Corbetts, including Am Bathasch, Faochaig and Sgurr an Airgid.

Further details of these (and other) walks in the area can be obtained from www.walkhighlands.co.uk

A drying room is available at Conchra House, and packed lunches can be arranged with prior notice. If a drop-off service is required, please mention when booking.

Below is some footage taken from the trig-point (413m) on Beinn Conchra on a very windy, but extremely pleasant walk to the summit (453m). The view from here is truly remarkable, and the hill is hardly walked. Once at the top, the views extend 360° over most of Wester Ross. This overlooked hill is literally on our back doorstep, and well worth the effort.

Here you see Loch Anna at the top of Beinn Conchra, with Eilean Donan Castle in the background. There is excellent fishing in these uphill lochs.
